Cervical cancer

HPV – know your enemy

Did you know that the main cause of cervical cancer is the virus?

Ask your girlfriends, and you will find out how much they know about it. How many are aware of the risk, how many think that it is the genes that are responsible for cervical cancer? But they are wrong. HPV, the Human Papilloma Virus is transmitted during sexual intercourse and through normal contact with the skin of the carrier.

All women are at risk and all women may be affected. 3 out of 4 sexually active women will have contracted the virus in their lifetime. This is why it is so important for you to learn about the real cause of the problem, the main perpetrator, your enemy called the HPV.

Don’t push yourself into coffin!
Make a cytology!

Five Polish women die every day for cervical cancer!
In five polish families occur a tragedy - someone loses mother, someone daughter, or sister.

Cervical cancer is a tumor which can be prevented.Regularly made, easy, painless and free checkup – this is cytology. It allows to avoid a drama in your life. Cytology enables to verify the danger before the tumor can develop. Early detecting of tumor is guarantee of recovering. In many cases cytology shows that we are healthy. But, keep in mind, that we should take care of our health. Take care of yourself to avoid cervical cancer.

Campaign "Don’t push yourself into coffin" is based on the idea of students from the first secondary school called Stanisława Staszica in Lublin. The students are the winner of second polish program for young people called "I have hook for cancer". The aim of the campaign is to encourage women to make cytology regularly, which is very important in avoiding and detecting cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer – say it out loud

Today, it is finally ok to talk about issues which until recently were taboos. The delicate and private issues around women’s health are finally talked about openly. Despite that, we continue to turn our heads away at the sound of the word “cancer”. We refuse to listen. We think, it only happens to others, not to us.

Cervical cancer kills more women worldwide than AIDS or tuberculosis.

The figures are terrifying. Each year there are 500 000 new cases. More than half of them die. It doesn’t have to be like this. You can have a say over your life and the lives of many other women!

A risk you can avoid

Cervical cancer is a problem that you can solve and prevent.

Remember, all women are at risk of developing cervical cancer, and if detected early on, the cancer can be fully treated. All women who have had sexual intercourse should have regular screening. At least once a year. Smear tests can detect cervical changes.

As a first step you have to learn about the disease and find out what you can do not to develop it. Awareness is key to success.  You have to believe that it is important to take good care of yourself and fight for yourself and your future – to enjoy life to the full.

You can rely on Flower of Womanhood.
